Kolber was born in Pennsylvania has earned her master's degree from the University of Miami. She started her professional career as a video producer at CBS Sports in New York City. She won the Sports Emmy in Miami during her time at WTVJ-TV. She was also employed by WPLG-TV in Miami as well as WPEC-TV located in West Palm Beach, Florida. She joined ESPN in 1993, and was one of the anchors for ESPN2 when it was first established. After three years of being with ESPN2, she quit ESPN2 to join Fox Sports. She was back at ESPN as a host in 1999.
